About Us

Hall Management Committee.

The Hall and Garden are under a long-term lease to the Management Committee from Chatworth Estate. Long-term planning as well as day to day management is undertaken by a small committee made up of members of the Langwith Society, the Langwith Parochial Church Council and residents who diligently and successfully run and maintain the hall. All are volunteers and aim to serve the local community, church and local businesses.

There are several groups who meet in the Hall regularly from keep fit and yoga classes to the gardening and craft clubs. The Hall also hosts a number of annual community events including a plant sale, the Flower Festival and Harvest Supper.

The Management Committee would like to undertake further improvement works to the facility, including the renovation of the outbuildings to bring them back into use. These plans, as well as the on-going financial survival of the Hall, rely on funds being available. Support from you and the Community, in the form of hosting and attending parties, weddings, celebrations, exhibitions, meetings and all manor of function in the Hall, is vital to the continued and future success of this valuable community resource.

If you would like further information or feel you could be more involved, and become a part of the future of Langwith Bassett Community Hall, do get in touch. Volunteers are always welcome and there is always something to do!

Enjoy your visit.

History of Langwith Bassett Hall.

Langwith Bassett Hall has been open as a Hall since 2005. In 2004, the Hall Committee was successful in a bid to the National Lottery for £180,000 to make substantial improvements to the Hall and its facilities.

The old crofters’ cottages, belonging to The Chatsworth Estate, were tastefully renovated to replace the ‘tin’ Church Hall that previously stood on the Car Park area. The project was championed by a consortium of local people led by the Langwith Society and the Langwith Parochial Church Council with the support of the Chatsworth Estate.

The work included a wooden floor in the hall, modern toilet facilities, decorating internally and externally, dado rails, new chairs and a general freshening up, modernisation and improvement of the facility. The Hall is now a credit to the Community.
